Article 15 wins Audience Award at London Indian Film Festival

Director Anubhav Sinha’s latest release Article 15 has impressed the audience and critics alike and continues a good run at the box office since its release on 28 June. It now has another feather in its cap. The film has won the Audience Award at the recently concluded London Indian Film Festival.

The news was shared by Bagri Foundation that is supporting the festival. “Finally we'd like to say a huge congratulations to the Director of our opening night film Article 15 Anubhva Sinha which won this year's Audience Award. The film starring Ayushmann Khurrana is out now so be sure to catch it at the cinema,” the foundation wrote on its Twitter handle. 

Reacting to the news, Sinha said in an official statement, “I am so happy that the film actually connected with Indians abroad and with non-Indians alike, who are not facing this version of inequality on a daily basis.” 

The festival had three chapters, one each in Burmingham (21 June - 1 July), London (20-29 June) and Manchester (26-29 June).

Article 15 has Khurrana essay the role of a cop who investigates the rape and murder of two village girls. The film makes a sharp statement on the ills of caste system and the judiciary in India. 

Released last week on 28 June, film has so far earned Rs23.75 crore.
