Akshay Kumar and John Abraham's films clashed at the box office last year on 15 August when their films Gold (2018) and Satyameva Jayate (2018) released on the same day. It is an unusual co-incidence that their respective films Mission Mangal and Batla House will hit the screens together this Independence Day as well.
Mission Mangal trailer: Akshay Kumar leads an inexperienced team on mission impossible
When Akshay Kumar was asked about this during the trailer launch of Mission Mangal, he said, “John recently gave a very good reply to this saying, ‘Make some noise for the desi boys.’ If you look at it, there are only 52 weeks in a year. And we have around 180-190 films releasing. So what to do? What else can we do other than release 2-3 films together? Other than the 180-190 Hindi films there are 30-40 Hollywood films as well.”
The actor added that one should expect more clashes in the future and move on. “So there will surely be a lot of congestion. Moving ahead there will be more problems. Today 2-3 films are releasing together, in the future 4-5 films will be released on the same day. So there is nothing astonishing about it. We cannot not blame anybody. We should not blame each other. We should just go along with it,” he added.
