Mission Mangal takes on the story of ISRO's first and successful launch of India's Mars Orbiter mission, popularly known as Mangalyaan.

Akshay Kumar leads the cast as the mission director with Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, Sonakshi Sinha, HG Dattatreya and Nithya Menon playing the core team.

The trailer of the film has an optimistic Akshay set on doing the impossible. Launch a space probe to Mars with the aid of an inexperienced team in the first attempt. The idea that the feat is 'impossible' is repeatedly drilled with various characters using the word, accompanying it with a sigh. But the leader remains unstoppable, for he has 'home science' on his side.

Various characters and their motivation in joining the mission are also explained. A quick sprinkle of women empowerment is also thrown in in the trailer with the female cast beating up a man on a metro. While the cast seem to have done a decent job, they look made-up, always.

Mission Mangal is another film from Akshay that celebrates patriotism and the success of the ruling government. Mangalyaan was launched during the Narendra Modi government in 2014 and became one of the Bhartiya Janata Party's trump cards. Thankfully, the trailer focuses on the ISRO team solely without the mention of the government and its 'Pyaare Pradhan Mantri'.

Directed by Jagan Shakti, the film will hit the screens on 15 August 2019.
