After two remixes aka recreations with ‘Koka’ and ‘Sheher Ki Ladki’, it is time to settle in for an original number from Khandaani Shafakhana, starring Sonakshi Sinha, Badshah and Varun Sharma.
The song, a romantic track by Payal Dev, gives us a first look at Sinha’s love interest, played by Priyansh Jora. The actor, who has worked on the television series 24 and Tu Mera Hero, is making his big screen debut.
Sinha’s character Baby Bedi and Jora’s character initially seem to have some friction and they settle into being there for each other. He operates a lemon drink stall that seems to be filled with customers in the city of Hoshiarpur, Punjab, where they live.
The lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed openly show his admiration for Baby Bedi and his affirmation that he will stand by her side. Jubin Nautiyal’s smooth vocals take over the love story, which remains a soft romantic track throughout.
Dev’s score keeps the beat at a slow trot, and sometimes allows Nautiyal and his voice to be the focus throughout. The track is a pleasant change after listening to a row of old songs updated for a newer audiences.
Tulsi Kumar has sung the female portions of the song, but they are not featured in this video.
Khandaani Shafakhana, directed by Shilpi Dasgupta, is due to be released on 2 August.
