Khushali Kumar, sister of T-Series head honcho Bhushan, is all set to make her acting debut in the film Dahi Cheeni (2020). She will be paired opposite the popular star R Madhavan in the film produced by T-Series.
According to the producers, Khushali had to audition for her role and was selected on the basis of her acting merit.
Speaking about her experience so far, Khushali said, “Like any other artist, I’m very excited for my first film. I've worked really very hard for this prep. Right from auditions to the prep, it's been a journey. I'm so kicked to start the first schedule soon. And it’s scary to stand next to Madd,y but I have made up my mind and I am ready to go at it full throttle.”
Dahi Cheeni is also the debut for director Ashwin Neal Mani. He was the trainee assistant director on Australia (2008), which starred Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. He continued as assistant director on many Tamil films including Mani Ratnam’s Raavan (2010). He has also been a producer on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan and the musical TV show Coke Studio.
Mani is happy with Khushali coming on board for Dahi Cheeni. “It is my debut film so I was a bit finicky about each and every detail and the actors were my biggest concern. Then I met Khushali and in due time she proved to me that no one else could do a better job. I saw her living the character that I essayed and today after eight months I am overjoyed to say that she is the perfect leading lady for the film,” he said.
The film is scheduled to go on floors this August.
