Tanishk Bagchi is on a roll with his remixes. The composer has turned in yet another remix of the Musafir (2000) song 'O Saki Saki' for John Abraham-starrer, Batla House. Sung by Tulsi Kumar, Neha Kakkar and B Praak, the song has the vim and Nora Fatehi's moves going for it.
The song is a throwback to the old style cabaret number that intertwines a key plot moment in the film. The visuals suggest that the song has a very devious undertone of a few terrorists meeting and plotting an attack. Batla House is based on the Batla House encounter of 2008.
Nora Fatehi, T-Series and Bagchi reunite after their last remix of 'Dilbar' for Satyameva Jayate (2018). Incidentally, the Milap Zaveri-film also had John Abraham playing an action-oriented role.
In 'O Saki Saki' the actress pulls off yet another sensual belly dancing routine with some dim lighting to go with. Her dancing was never in question, but the visuals lack something of an aesthetic beauty that could have added to the music.
Tanishk Bagchi's control of the remix has gotten better with every song. The composer seems to enjoy these rides down nostalgia lane. He modulates the tempo of the song to provide a different feel, and brings in a bit of Arabian music fusion to add to the rhythm of the song. Neha Kakkar and Tulsi Kumar combine well. B Praak's voice adds a texture which is refreshingly different from the original, and makes for a good addition. The singer does deserve more songs.
Batla House is directed by Nikkhil Advani. The film is set to be released on 15 August 2019.
