Rwitobroto Mukherjee will be seen in the titular role in Mainak Bhaumik’s upcoming thriller Goyenda Junior. Last year, the director created buzz with Generation Ami (2018).
Goyenda Junior narrates the journey of a teenage boy Bikram (Mukherjee), who struggles hard to face the usual challenges put forth by his age and ends up solving a crime in the process.
In an interview with the daily Times of India, Mukherjee said, “This film is not only about a detective. It also traces Bikram’s crisis in life and how he deals with the hurdles that a 16 year old faces.”
In the film, Bikram is an intelligent and witty boy, who is good at studies and loves to read crime thrillers. “Even though he is like any boy of his age, Bikram is a loner having lost his parents at an early age. He stays with his uncle, who is a cop,” added the young stage and film actor.
Bikram’s uncle asks him to accompany him in his cases, to help him get out of his loneliness and thus, he gets on with the case and solves it by chance, despite not having a detective mind. Mukherjee also mentioned that the film is about a teenage boy and his problems and crime is a part of it.
For the past five or six years, Bhaumik was willing to work on a detective film and finally now the time has come for him. Though he is yet to decide on the other characters, Bhaumik stated that he will start shooting the film from the end of July. However, he also made it clear that it is not an out-an-out detective film.
