Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra are back as a pair for Jabariya Jodi, their second film together after Vinil Mathew’s Hasee Toh Phasee (2014).
At the trailer launch of Jabariya Jodi, Chopra said she and Malhotra had spoken of doing another film together but could not find a suitable subject.
“I think after Hasee Toh Phasee our pairing got so much love as Sid-Neeti, as people called us. We used to speak about doing another film [together] but we never did because we wanted to do something very different from Hasee Toh Phasee,” she said.

“Actually Sid [Malhotra] called me and said there is this film and we should talk to Ekta [Kapoor]. I was scared as I hoped it isn’t in that [Hasee Toh Phasee] space. But it was totally different,” the actress added, revealing how she bagged the role.
Helmed by first-time director Prashant Singh, Jabariya Jodi is a funny take on groom kidnapping in Bihar. The film also stars Jaaved Jaaferi and Chandan Roy Sanyal.
Malhotra said the film would surpass the popularity of Hasee Toh Phasee. “I think this time you will enjoy it even more because our concept is also relatable. We have presented this practice in Bihar in a comical way. It also has a message related to dowry but in a fun way,” he said.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Karma Media & Entertainment, Jabariya Jodi is set to be released on 2 August.
