Actress Alia Bhatt is working with both stars of the current generation — Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor — in her upcoming films Gully Boy and Brahmastra, respectively. Having spent enough time with both, she believes they share a lot of similarities.
“There are a lot of similarities [between them]," Bhatt said at the trailer launch of Gully Boy at a hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. "Both are superb human beings and outstanding actors. And both are very special for me.”
Starring Ranveer Singh, Gully Boy is about an underdog rapper from Mumbai. The film has been inspired by real-life rappers from the slum areas of Mumbai. Bhatt plays Ranveer Singh's love interest in the film.
Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.
On a lighter note, Bhatt also pointed out the difference between both actors. “The only difference is that I am doing Gully Boy with one and Brahmastra with the other,” she said.
To this, Ranveer Singh responded, "Ek thoda zyada special hai, ek thoda kum [One is more special than the other]." Bhatt and Kapoor are reportedly in a relationship at the moment.
Brahmastra is the first of a superhero trilogy and Kapoor plays the lead role. The film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and directed by Ayan Mukerji. Pictures of Bhatt and Kapoor shooting at the edge of an old building in Mumbai were out last year. The film was earlier titled Dragon.
Gully Boy will have its world premiere at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, which will run from 7 to 17 February. The film will be released in theatres on 14 February. Brahmastra will hit the theatres on 20 December this year.
