Actor Ranveer Singh has modestly acknowledged that he had a fantastic 2018. The actor struck gold with both his films in 2018 — Padmaavat and Simmba.
“I don’t like at all when someone else’s film doesn’t work. I am also a part of the industry. Our houses run from the same industry. I know very well how all work hard. So, if anybody’s film doesn’t work it feels bad. And if a film does well, it feels very good, especially if it’s mine,” he said, at the trailer launch of his next film Gully Boy today at a hotel in Juhu.
He was responding to a question about the films of the three Khans — Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman — not working at the box office. The Khans, who have enjoyed superstar status in the film industry for a long time came up with duds — Thugs Of Hindostan, Zero and Race 3, respectively.
Singh's year began with the blockbuster Padmaavat, which grossed over Rs545 crore worldwide and ended with Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, which is still running in theatres and has currently crossed the Rs200 crore mark.
Speaking about the success of Padmaavat and Simmba, Singh said, "All I can say is that I am happy that the films I was a part of where I worked hard did good recovery. It was a fantastic year for me."
Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy also features Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin.
Gully Boy will have its world premiere at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, which will run from 7 to 17 February. The film will be released in theatres on 14 February.
