With the success of Stree (2018), the genre of horror comedies has got a fresh lease of life. The latest film in the genre stars Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar, who are being roped in for a project under the Dharma Productions banner. The two are already working together in Takht (2020), directed by Karan Johar.

A DNA report quoted a source suggesting that the horror comedy will mark the debut of director Bhanu Pratap Singh, under the Dharma Productions banner. Kaushal was approached for the project, and has already begun working on the same.

The source was quoted as saying, "The film is funny yet scary. It’s an interesting mix and when Vicky was approached for it, he instantly took an interest. Bhanu developed the characters and the actor has already started shooting for the movie."

While Pednekar's role might be small, it will be 'impactful'. The actress is expected to shoot for the movie in a couple of days, before she begins the schedule of Womaniya (2019) alongside Taapsee Pannu. The film is directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Anurag Kashyap.

While Kaushal and Pednekar were earlier seen in the Netflix anthology, Lust Stories (2018), they did not share scenes together as they featured in separate shorts.

Kaushal is currently awaiting the release of Uri:The Surgical Strike (2019) this week, while Pednekar has Abhishek Chaubey's Sonchiriya (2019) ready for release in February.
