The poster of director Mahendra Teredesai's film Dombivli Return was launched on social media today. It features lead pair Sandeep Kulkarni and Rajeshwari Sachdev, who will be sharing screen space for the first time. Dombivli Return is a bilingual film, made in Marathi and Hindi.
Talking about his film being compared to the popular 2005 film with a similar name, Dombivali Fast, Teredesai asserted that there is no connection between the two.
"Due to the name, a lot of people think this is a sequel to Dombivali Fast, but it is not. But I couldn't think of a title that suited the story better than Dombivli Return. If tomorrow the film is compared to Dombivali Fast, I would consider it a good thing. Being compared to a good film is good," he said.
Kulkarni and Sachdev are playing a married couple, and their young daughter is also seen in the poster. The trio is seen standing, circled by a railway track, looking straight into the camera.
The tagline of the film is quite intriguing too, as it questions if 'je zaata tech parat yeta [What goes around comes around]'.
Going by the poster and the tagline, an interesting thriller is on its way.
On the subject of the film, director Teredesai said, "Money is a root cause of all evil... the film paints a picture of how this phrase is deeply etched in the minds of our middle class. This story came to me during my travel from Mulund to CST.
"Sandeep Kulkarni really liked the story. He is not only a great actor, but also a great producer. He has been my friend since college. We had worked together in theatre. I had written the dialogues for Sandeep's first film as producer too," he added.
The makers also announced the release date of the film, 22 February, along with the poster.
The script, screenplay and dialogue are all by Teredesai, who makes his directorial debut with the film. Apart from Kulkarni and Sachdev, the film stars Amol Parashar, popularly known for acting in the TVF's web-series Tripling.
Dombivli Return is the first film under Kulkarni’s banner Karambola Creations, which he has established with his friend Mahendra Atole.
