The new year has brought good cheer for actor Ranveer Singh, as his yearend release Simmba is roaring away the box office. The action drama, directed by Rohit Shetty, made Rs40 crore nett in its second weekend, to take its India business so far to Rs190.26 crore nett, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.

Released on 28 December 2018, Simmba had collected an impressive Rs75.25 crore nett in its opening weekend, and the drop in the second weekend has been less than 50%. Co-produced by Dharma Productions, Reliance Entertainment and Shetty, Simmba had made a huge Rs150.26 crore nett in its first week.
Simmba collected Rs9.25 crore nett on its second Friday, before making Rs13.25 crore and Rs17.50 crore nett over the weekend.
Made at an estimated budget of Rs120-125 crore, Simmba was released in 4,500 screens in India. As per sources, Simmba is also said to have bagged around Rs75-80 crore through its satellite and digital rights [sold to Zee].

Singh and Shetty are likely to score their respective second successive Rs200 crore nett grosser. Singh’s last film Padmaavat (2018) was a huge hit, collecting Rs282 crore nett in India, while Shetty’s Golmaal Again (2017) had made Rs205.50 crore nett in its India business.
