Actress Shraddha Kapoor has replaced Katrina Kaif as the female lead in choreographer-director Remo D'Souza's next dance themed film. The male lead will be Varun Dhawan.

“Katrina Kaif couldn't do films because of date issues. She will be busy shooting for Bharat,” Remo told Cinestaan.com.

The untitled film will be produced by T-Series, and Remo’s wife Lizelle D’Souza.

“I’m excited to reunite with Remo sir, Prabhudehva sir, and Varun after ABCD 2. This was made possible by Bhushanji who brought us back and believed in this amazing story. It is going to be a lot of hard work for everyone involved but we are all pumped up [sic],” Kapoor said in a statement.

The producers are planning to release the film in 3D.

“The audience has already seen Varun [Dhawan] and Shraddha’s chemistry, now, Remo will redefine dance for our audience,” said T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar in a statement. The association will see him team up with his Aashiqui 2 (2013), Saaho (2019) and Saina (2019) leading lady.

Dhawan welcomed Kapoor on board with this tweet.

The untitled film will be largely shot in the United Kingdom and it will mark the acting debut of dancers Shakti Mohan and Vartika Jha. The shooting will begin on 22 January in Punjab.

Dhawan wrapped up Dharma Productions’ Kalank in November last year and is expected to begin work on the Remo's film soon. Kapoor's last film Stree (2018) turned out to be a huge hit. The duo had a successful association when they had teamed up for Remo's ABCD 2 (2015).

Kaif, whose last two films, Thugs Of Hindostan (2018) and Zero (2018), flopped, would hope Bharat turns her fortunes. The Salman Khan-starrer is scheduled to be released during Eid 2019.
