Director Prakash Jha's acting career might just find another willing backer. The director-actor is reportedly in the running to be cast as the villain to the Bhumi Pednekar-Taapsee Pannu drama directed by Anurag Kashyap. Tentatively titled Womaniya, the makers of the film are yet to make an official announcement, atlthough Kashyap has stated that the crew will begin the first schedule on 10 February.
A Mumbai Mirror report claimed a source as stating that Jha is set to be cast as the villain of the piece in the female led film. The director made his acting debut in his own Raajneeti (2010), before a longer role alongside Priyanka Chopra in the sequel, Jai Gangaajal (2016). The director has since been present in short films like Justaju (2018).
The news report quoted the source saying, "He (Prakash Jha) has loved the script and will start shooting with Bhumi and Taapsee on 10 February. He is excited about the project. The actors have begun their prep."
The film is reportedly based on Chandro Tomar, and her sister-in-law Prakashi, who acquired fame for their shooting abilities. The octogenarian ladies learnt to shoot rifles at the age of 60 and went on to win several national championships. Chandro has the reputation of being the oldest championship shooter in the country, which earned the two sisters the sobriquet, Shooter Dadis.
