From its first trailer, Shelly Chopra Dhar's Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga promised to offer a different take on the stereotypical romantic comedy. With a slight hint of a lesbian relationship, the trailer offers a sweet, sentimental tale of a girl fighting for her own idea of love. Featuring Rajkummar Rao, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles, the film is set to be released on 1 February.

The second trailer, which was released on Monday, captures the struggle of Sonam's character in the film. While the first only hinted at her identity struggle, the second trailer offers a far deeper look.

The trailer begins with Anil's exuberant Balbir Chaudhary planning his daughter's wedding with Rajkummar's Sahil Mirza. Even his daughter accepts the marriage, saying 'Everyone compromises. I can do this for my family.'

But it is Sahil who is not ready to do so. The trailer implies that it is the playwright Sahil who decides to craft a play to explain the situation to the family in a more palatable manner. The sight of Sonam and Regina Cassandra surrounded by a mob, with threatening swords, offers an insight into the idea of same-sex love's struggle to survive.

Yet, the trailer also offers the hidden clue in the form of Sahil's question 'Is there anyone who will support you here?' while looking at the camera. Perhaps it asks for the support of Anil's character, who is a loving father to Sonam in the film.
