Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha-starrer 96 was one of the most loved Tamil films of last year. In the film, directed by C Premkumar and featuring music by Govinda Vasantha, Vijay and Trisha played characters that meet in a school reunion after 20 years and how love between them gets rekindled.
The film is now all set to be remade in Telugu with Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni in the titular roles. The yet-untitled remake was officially launched over the weekend and it will be directed by Prem, who also helmed the original.
It’s worth mentioning that Sharwanand and Trisha are teaming up for the first time for the remake, which is slated to go on the floors from March this year. Not long ago, rumours made the rounds that Nani was being considered for the project and that he was really excited to be part of the film; however, due to his current commitments he couldn’t take out time.
The makers are currently on the lookout for actors to play the younger versions of Sharwanand and Samantha. In Tamil, debutants Aadithya Bhaskar and Gauri played the younger versions of Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. The youngsters were lauded for their performances. The makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast and crew.
