Sidharth Malhotra will begin shooting for the Vikram Batra biopic in April, reports suggest. The actor was cast in the role of the Param Vir Chakra awardee back in 2018. The film will also see Malhotra play the role of Batra's twin brother, Vishal.
Mumbai Mirror reported that the actor is likely to begin shooting in the DAV college in Chandigarh, following which the shoot will move to Palampur, Batra's family residence.
Captain Vikram Batra was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously for his exploits in the Kargil War in 1999. The film is likely to be titled Kargil's Sher Shah, after the monicker given to Batra by the Pakistani army in their war messages.
Malhotra is currently shooting for Nikkhil Advani production, Marjaavaan. He is likely to begin training with the armed forces following the wrap of the shoot, to prepare for the role.
The biopic on Vikram Batra is to be directed by Vishnuvardhan. There has yet to be a leading lady finalised for the film, to play the role of Batra's girlfriend.
The film is co-produced by Dharma Productions, and Shabbir Boxwala.
