Tamil psycho-killer thriller Ratsasan (2018) is one of the best films of last year and there’s no two ways about it. Not only did the Vishnu Vishal-starrer impress audiences and critics alike with its content, it emerged as a box-office hit with unanimously positive word-of-mouth and appreciation.

Despite being a violent film about a police officer’s chase to catch a serial killer, the film worked big time with multiplexes audiences and is now all set to be remade in Telugu. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is most likely to reprise Vishnu Vishal’s character in the remake.

It’s worth mentioning that actor Nithiin had bagged the Telugu remake rights of Ratsasan a few months ago and he was all set to star in the film. Nithiin had planned to make the film with director Sudheer Varma; however, due to the latter’s current commitments, the plan was dropped. Therefore, Nithiin decided to bankroll the remake instead of starring in it.

Ramesh Varma, known for helming films such as Ride (2009) and Veera (2011), has been chosen to direct the remake in Nithiin’s production. The regular shooting is expected to commence from March or April. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised.

Ratsasan is also set to be remade in Kannada soon. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, E4E Entertainment, the company which has produced the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy (2017), has acquired the Kannada remake rights of the film. The official announcement is yet to be made but reliable sources have confirmed that the remake rights have been snapped for a fancy price.
