With a title like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, it is inevitable that the Sonam Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao-starrer have good music. The latest song from the film, 'Good Morning', is a peppy wake-up call as Rajkummar gets the family working together for his play.
Rajkummar embodies a different energy from his usual sober characters as he essays the role of a playwright in love with Sonam Kapoor's eponymous 'ladki'. The song is set to the visuals of the actor pepping the family as they slowly settle into the morning routine. The reason is simple. He wants them to lend a hand as he sets up the play that shares its title with the film. Based on appearances, the play seems to have a key role in the film's plot, or perhaps holds a reveal to Sonam's character.
The song itself pops out as different from the soundscape of the earlier 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh' or 'Gur Naal Ishq Mitha'. With a very contemporary pop-rock template, Rochak Kohli picks the right voices of Vishal Dadlani and Shannon Donald. Dadlani leads the way with the acoustic accompaniments joining him.
Kohli's composition is peppy, hummable, and has the right vibes to match the energy of the performances on screen and vice versa. While the earlier compositions developed upon the base of some well-known and familiar melodies, 'Good Morning' has a fairly original ring to it.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar and will be released on 1 February.
