Uri stands strong on second Tuesday, Simmba closes in on Rs400 crore worldwide 

Vicky Kaushal’s film looks good to make Rs150 crore nett; Ranveer Singh's action drama grosses Rs386 crore worldwide.

Action film Uri has brought good cheer for the trade in 2019. Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike is the first big hit of 2019, while Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba, that was released on 28 December, continued its good run in January 2019 too.
Uri enjoyed another good day at the box office as it collected Rs6.50 crore nett on its second Tuesday, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. Simmba is eyeing Rs400 crore worldwide.

Uri has so far made Rs122.24 crore nett in its India business. Produced by RSVP, and directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri is made at an estimated budget of Rs28 crore and was released in 2,200 screens in India. The film has fetched Rs14 crore for a combined satellite and digital rights deal and Rs2 crore for music rights [all sold to Zee].

Meanwhile, director Rohit Shetty’s Simmba is eyeing Rs400 crore (gross) worldwide. The film has so far grossed approximately Rs386 crore worldwide. The India gross collection stands at Rs293 crore while the film has grossed $13 million (approximately Rs93 crore at the current exchange rate) in the worldwide collection.

Simmba has grossed $5 million (approximately Rs35 crore at the current exchange rate) in the US and Canada market. It has become the third Singh film after Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat (2018) to gross $5 million in these markets.

Simmba's business has slowed down over the weeks and it will be challenging for it to collect Rs400 crore worldwide. With Uri doing well in its second week, Simmba has a task at hand to touch the Rs400 crore worldwide mark.

The film has currently collected Rs237.50 crore nett in its India business. Made at an estimated budget of Rs120-125 crore, Simmba was initially released more than 4,000 screens in India and more than 900 screens in the overseas market.
