At the pre-release press meet of Vada Chennai (2018), actor-producer Dhanush confirmed that he would be joining hands with filmmaker Vetrimaaran for the fourth time. While he didn’t divulge more information about the project, Vetrimaaran revealed in a recent interview that the film will be based on Tamil novel, Vekkai, a revenge drama that traces the fight of an oppressed community against those oppressing them. The novel is written by Poomani. The makers earlier this week revealed that the regular shooting of the project will commence from 26 January.
On Tuesday (22 January), it was announced that popular Malayalam actress Manju Warrier will make her Tamil debut in the project. She will be seen paired opposite Dhanush for the first time and this exciting combination has already created quite a buzz on social media. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised.
Composer GV Prakash Kumar has been signed to take care of music and this will be his fourth collaboration with Dhanush and third with Vetrimaaran.
Last seen playing a local ruffian in Maari 2 (2018), Dhanush will sport a different look for Asuran. It’s after wrapping up this project, will Vetrimaaran return to finish the pending work on the second part of the multigenerational gangster drama franchise Vada Chennai, which featured Dhanush as a carrom player who gets sucked into the world of politics and rowdyism.
