Photograph poster: Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra forge a connection

The first poster of Ritesh Batra’s upcoming film Photograph (2019) frames its stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in a parting shot. The feature film has also announced the date for its Indian release. The film is due to be released in theatres on 8 March 2019.

The director and its stars announced the beginning of their ‘story’ and released the first poster on Twitter today.

Photograph, a feature film about relationships, is an Amazon Studios original that will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on 27 January 2019. Last week, it was also announced that the film will screen at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival's Special Gala section in early February.

Written and directed by Batra, Photograph follows Siddiqui’s Rafi, a Mumbai street photographer, who meets Malhotra’s Miloni while on the job and asks her to act as his fiancée to appease his visiting grandmother.

When we spoke with the director in 2017, he had said of the project, “I think [Photograph] looks at things through a nostalgic lens. I’m pretty nostalgic about a lot of things, so that, hopefully, shows in my work.”
