On actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan’s 64th birthday, Lyca Productions officially announced that their next big project will be Indian 2, a sequel to S Shankar’s blockbuster film Indian, which featured Haasan as father and son in dual roles. It has already been confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal plays the leading lady and Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose music.
The project was originally slated to go on the floors from December 2018; however, due to Haasan’s political commitments it had to be postponed, and if the industry grapevine is anything to go by, the principal shooting will begin from 18 January in Hyderabad.
The pre-production work has been going on for months and Haasan is expected to shed weight to play his character. He’s believed to undergo a strict weight loss programme under the supervision of a team of trainers from the US. The news about Indian 2 was first announced during the first season of Tamil Bigg Boss, which was hosted by Haasan.
Indian 2 will predominantly shot abroad, and it is believed that the makers have zeroed in on Taiwan and Ukraine where most of the project will be filmed, apart from Hyderabad from Chennai.
To be made on a lavish budget, Lyca Productions took over the reins of the project from producer Dil Raju after he chose to opt out for reasons unknown.
The film will be simultaneously made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. The makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast. There were rumours that Dulquer Salmaan and Simbu may also be part of the project. However, neither the makers nor the actors have verified these reports.
