A woman filed a complaint of harassment against T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar and his uncle Krishan Kumar on 16 January at the Oshiwara police station in northern Mumbai.
Just a day later, she withdrew the complaint after Krishan Kumar, a one-time actor, filed a counter complaint of extortion against her at the neighbouring Amboli poice station.
T-Series shared a copy of the woman's complaint withdrawal letter blaming depression and frustration for filing a false complaint against the duo.
“I feel sorry for filing a complaint. These are false allegations and it was due to frustration and depression; these allegations are malicious and I had no intention to malign his reputation and shall not make any false statement and allegation against him in future," she wrote.
The Kumars were informed by the Oshiwara police that the woman had withdrawn her complaint and requested them to withdraw their complaint, too.
T-Series said in a press release that the woman was trying to extort money from Krishan Kumar. She had allegedly threatened to accuse him of sexual assault if Krishan Kumar didn’t pay up.
An officer from the Oshiwara police station said there was no official complaint filed in the first place. “I don't have exact details, but the woman had intended to file a complaint of harassment against Bhushan Kumar and Krishnan Kumar. However, her complaint was never registered and there is no case now.”
Officials from the Amboli police station refused to comment.
