After their successful collaboration in Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014) and Sethupathi (2016), actor Vijay Sethupathi and director Arun Kumar have reunited for the third time for a project titled Sindhubaadh, which stars Anjali as the leading lady. The film’s title and first look poster were released on Sethupathi’s birthday on Wednesday, 16 January.
The Sindhubaadh poster shows a bruised Vijay looking down, drenched in rain, while a gang of armed young men are seen running towards him. Going by billboards in the background, this fight sequence has been set in some southeast Asian country. It’s worth mentioning that the makers recently shot predominant portion of the film in Bangkok, Thailand. Vijay tweeted the poster.

Arun Kumar and Vijay have been planning to join hands for a long time. There were plans to even make a sequel to Sethupathi (2016), but looks like the idea fell through. This yet-untitled project is being jointly produced by K Productions and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s YSR Films. The film also stars Linga and Vivek Prasanna.
Talking about his equation with Vijay, director Arun had told The Times of India: “I didn’t write the script keeping Sethu in mind. I’d approached a few artistes and had almost finalised another actor, but things didn’t materialise. There’s a huge comfort factor with Sethu, and that’s one of the reasons we didn’t want to work together again. But now that we are teaming up again, I’m glad this film happened.”
Last seen in superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta (2019), playing a negative character, Vijay has interesting line-up of projects this year as well. In Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe, he plays a transgender. He will be seen playing a politician in Seenu Ramaswamy’s Maamanidhan
