Less than a month after Zoya Akhtar’s latest film, Gully Boy (2019), hits theatres on 14 February, the filmmaker’s next project will debut on Amazon Prime Video on 8 March. Akhtar made her digital debut last year with the Netflix anthology film, Lust Stories (2018).
She and frequent collaborator Reema Kagti have created Made In Heaven, a web-series about two companies that plan weddings in New Delhi and their rivalry. The series stars Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, Arjun Mathur, Sobhita Dhulipalia. Titli (2015) co-stars Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi, along with Shweta Tripathi, Ankur Rathee and Denzil Smith are also part of the cast.

The first look poster was unveiled today featuring Dhulipala, Mathur, Koechlin, Sarbh, Arora and Raghuvanshi in a well-designed room. Dhulipala and Mathur are seated front and centre, leading us to believe they might be heading the warring wedding planning companies. It seems like the rest of the cast in the poster could either be the rest of the staff in those companies or be one of the brides and grooms whose weddings are being organized
Interestingly, there is enough distance between all of the principal characters which indicates that there could be trouble in paradise.
Besides series creator Akhtar, Made In Heaven has been directed by Nitya Mehra, Alankrita Shrivastava and Prashant Nair. Shrivastava has also written the episodes along with writer Niranjan Iyengar.
The Amazon web-series is also co-produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, the production house created by Akhtar and Kagti. Excel Entertainment and Amazon had previously presented the crime series Mirzapur which will shoot its second series this year.
