Director Mitali Ghoshal’s 22 Yards is a cricket-themed story. The title of the film is the length of a cricket pitch. The first poster of the film has an impressive image of a cricket stadium, and mugshots of actors Barun Sobti and Amartya Ray. The stadium seems to be full and the floodlights suggest the match is a day-night game.
22 Yards was screened last year at the first edition of the Bay Area South Asian Film Festival (BASAFF). Sobti had attended the festival and represented the film in San Francisco.
He also won the best actor award at the festival for the film. The actor plays a sports agent.
Sobti also featured in director Milind Dhaimade’s Tu Hai Mera Sunday. The film and his performance received rave reviews. He was paired opposite Shahana Goswami [of Rock On!! fame] in the film.
22 Yards also stars Rajit Kapur, Panchi Bora, Chaiti Ghoshal, Rajesh Sharma and Geetika Tyagi.
The film is Mitali's directorial debut and she has also produced the film, which will be out in theatres on 22 February.
