The super success of Nagraj Popatrao Manjule’s Sairat (2016) brought instant stardom to its lead actors Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. But it also provided false hopes to a number of filmmakers who felt that the subject of a love story between a boy from a lower class and girl from an upper class will always work wonders.

This resulted in a many films on the same theme being released - Ranjan (2017), Baban (2017), Vitthala Shappath (2017), Odh (2018), Yuntum (2018). Director Rajendra Gaikwad’s Premwaari is yet another Marathi film to follow their lead.

The film is about two college students [debutants Chinmay Udgirkar and Mayuri Kapadne] who are in love. Rahul hails from a poor background while Pooja belongs to a rich affluent family. Her father [Abhijeet Chavan] is also a powerful politician. Rahul is sure that they can never be allowed to stay together but Pooja still feels hopeful.

The trailer is a confusing mash-up of romance, politics and an item number. It just seems that the editor cut together the trailer using many sequences without thinking about the flow. For instance, the item number arrives and leaves abruptly without impact. Furthermore, using too many flashes as a transition doesn't help.

Produced under the banner of Saimamit Production, Premwaari will be released on Valentine’s Day on 14 February.
