The fresh delay in the release of director Anand Surapur’s decade-old film The Fakir Of Venice has been confirmed. The film, slated for release on 18 January, has been rescheduled for 1 February.
Producer Punit Desai shared the news in an official statement and mentioned the presence of other films on 18 January as the reason for changing the release date.
“The Fakir Of Venice is getting strong response from all multiplexes and owing to the huge flow of films on 18 January and 25 January, as also Uri, TAPM [The Accidental Prime Minister] and Simmba occupying most screens, our multiplex partners have suggested that the film be moved to 1 February for a justifiable release for this Farhan Akhtar, Annu Kapoor and AR Rahman enterprise,” Desai said in his statement.
The Fakir Of Venice is the story of a fake fakir (Kapoor) who goes to Venice to complete an assignment given by Akhtar’s con man character.
The film was made in 2008. It was supposed to be Farhan Akhtar’s acting debut before Rock On!! (2008). But the film just kept getting delayed on account of a production-related dispute. It will finally see the light of day now. Perhaps.
