Actors Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla have previously worked together on Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) and Jolly LLB (2013). The two are back together in Fraud Saiyaan (2019) where Warsi plays a conman who dupes women into marrying him and Shukla aides and abets him on the schemes.
In their previous comedic films, they had never partnered up as they do in the upcoming film. For Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), Shukla played an astrologer Batuk Maharaj and Warsi was the iconic comedic sidekick, Circuit in the sequel. Both he and Munna Bhai take on the powerful astrologer as he takes away the groom and his family away from the wedding that's about to take place.
For Jolly LLB (2013), the two were on opposite sides of the law as judge and lawyer.
Warsi hoped that the audience would like the actors as a team in Fraud Saiyaan. "I am fortunate to get to play this character as I have not played anyone like Bhola Prasad Tripathi in any of my films. Working with Saurabh is a delight, he is a fantastic actor which helps me perform better. The script is hilarious, mainly because it has a uniquely funny sensibility and situations," he said.
The film's producer, Prakash Jha, felt the two have an unimaginable chemistry which is carried forward to the big screen. The co-stars were "always complimenting each other and being impromptu with their lines" according to Jha.
"When you see the movie, you will see how the two of them have enhanced each scene with their impeccable sense of humour and charisma," he said.
Written and directed by Sourabh Shrivastava, Fraud Saiyaan is due to be released on 18 January.
