John Abraham's Romeo Akbar Walter to be released on 12 April

Director Robby Grewal’s film is reportedly based on a true story.

After playing a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent in Madras Cafe (2013), John Abraham is likely to play one again in director Robby Grewal’s thriller Romeo Akbar Walter.

Producers Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Kyta Production have announced 12 April as the release date of the film through their official Twitter handles.

“The film is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, KYTA Productions & VA Film Company. RAW, based on true incidents, is written and directed by Robbie Grewal,” Viacom's handle tweeted.

The film is said to be based on true events. According to a report in the DNA newspaper last year, the film is said to based on an Indian spy who joins the Pakistani army.

Alia Bhatt played a similar character in Meghna Gulzar's Raazi (2018), which was also based on a true story.

Sushant Singh Rajput had initially signed on for the film, but the actor backed out later on account of lack of dates.

Apart from John Abraham, the film has Jackie Shroff, Mouni Roy, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy and Sikandar Kher in pivotal roles.
