Box office: Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty's Simmba collects Rs211 crore nett in two weeks

Actor Ranveer Singh’s first feature film with Rohit Shetty film, action masala entertainer Simmba, is earning rich dividends for both. After two weeks in theatres, the film has earned Rs211.01 crore nett in its domestic business, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. Simmba continued its dominance as it collected an impressive Rs60.75 crore nett in its second week.
It is a second successive Rs200-crore nett earner for Singh and Shetty, albiet separately. Singh-starrer epic Padmaavat (2018) had made Rs283 crore nett in India, while Simmba has already surprassed Golmaal Again (2017) as Shetty’s highest nett earner. Golmaal Again had made Rs205.50 crore nett in India.

Simmba is the remake of Telugu film Temper (2015). It is produced by Dharma Productions, Shetty and Reliance Entertainment. Made at an estimated budget of Rs120-125 crore, Simmba was released across 4,500 screens in India. As per trade sources, Simmba has fetched around Rs75-80 crore through satellite and digital rights [sold to Zee].
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero continued to struggle as it managed only Rs80 lakh in its third week. Panned by critics and the audiences alike, Zero has failed to reach the Rs100 crore nett mark.
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Colour Yellow Productions, Zero has so far made just Rs88.88 crore nett in India. Zero is made at a high budget of around Rs200 crore, and was released across 4,400 screens in India.

According to sources, the combined satellite and digital rights have been sold to Zee for Rs90 crore. Khan also has a deal with Netflix for digital rights to his film. Zee and Netflix have struck an internal deal for digital streaming.
The dubbed Hindi version of Kannada film KGF Chapter 1 has fared much better than Zero in week three. Distributed by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, KGF (Hindi) made an impressive Rs6 crore nett in its third week, taking its total to Rs37.88 crore nett.
Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike hit the theatres today. The film has recieved positive word of mouth, and the makers would hope to cash in on it. It remains to be seen whether Uri: The Surgical Strike halts the march of Simmba.
