Love, relationships, freedom, and sex complicate matters in Amazon Prime Video's Four More Shots Please

Directed by Anu Menon and created by Rangita Pritish Nandy, the Amazon Prime Original series is set to premiere on 25 January.

Liberated women talking freely about sex, their own insecurities, and bonding with each other, has become a popular theme since the success of Lipstick Under My Burkha (2017). The latest to join the bandwagon is the Amazon Prime Video Original series, Four More Shots Please. Created by Rangita Pritish Nandy, and directed by Anu Menon, the series looks into the life and incidents of four independent women living in Mumbai, their lives, loves and mistakes.

The trailer is cut in the rambunctious, popular style which reveals the basic premise of the series very obviously.

The story belongs to four independent women, a single mother (Kriti Kulhari), an ambitious news journalist (Sayani Gupta), a 'virgin' suppressed girl (Maanvi Gagroo), and the bi-curious adventurer (Bani J).

As these four struggle to come to terms with their unsatisfactory search for love, or ambition, and the struggle of life, they find comfort in each others friendships. So begins their trip to Goa, the eternal land of friendships and bonding.

Prateik Babbar, Lisa Ray, Neil Bhoopalam and Milind Soman form the the supporting cast. While Babbar plays the stereotypical friendly bartender, Soman seems to play the guy Gupta's character is infatuated with. Even in that, the series remains stereotypical.

While there is little to be said about the trailer, other than the high pitched tone of the characters' sexual freedom which seems to become a standard trope for their own independence. The trailer might seem more interesting if the focus was on the dynamics within the group, particularly since Bani J's character seems like an interesting twist from the usual portrayal.

The series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Videos on 25 January.
