Anurag Kashyap renames Womaniya to Saand Ki Aankh, tells Pritish Nandy to 'sit on the title and warm it'

The director had been fighting to reclaim the title, Womaniya, whose rights are with Pritish Nandy Communications.

After attempting to regain the title Womaniya from Pritish Nandy Communications, Anurag Kashyap has decided to rename his film.

The film about two octogenarian shooters, Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, features Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles.

The film is being directed by Tushar Hiranandani.

The makers announced the film's new title, Saand Ki Aankh, on social media today.

Kashyap had initially titled the film Womaniya, using a word from the lines of a song from his own film, Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012).

However, it turned out that Pritish Nandy Communications had already registered the title for an upcoming web-series, which was later renamed Four More Shots Please!

Despite that, Nandy did not agree to Kashyap's demand to let go of the title.

Whose title is it anyway? It's Anurag Kashyap vs Pritish Nandy for 'Womaniya'

Taking to social media, Kashyap lashed out at Nandy, tweeting, "So we have decided to not pay the extortion sum of 1 crore to Pritish Nandy. He can sit on the title and warm it and hope for it to hatch into something worthwhile for his company for once."

The film, produced by Kashyap and directed by Hiranandani, will see Pannu and Pednekar take on the roles of the two women who are India's oldest national shooting champions.
