Complaint filed against Karan Johar, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul in Jodhpur

Advocate Deva Ram Meghwal has filed a petition against the trio seeking action for their alleged misogynistic comments on the cha show Koffee With Karan.

A complaint has been filed against director-chat show host Karan Johar and Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul in Jodhpur's Luni police station on Tuesday, 5 February. The complaint has been filed by one advocate Deva Ram Meghwal over Johar and the cricketers' alleged misogynistic comments on Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan.

Confirming the same, Sinratha Ram, assistant commissioner of police, Boranada, Jodhpur told Cinestaan.com, “Advocate Deva Ram Meghwal had filed a petition in the Jodhpur court seeking action against Karan Johar, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their comments on the TV show. Meghwal alleged that in the name of TRPs, Johar and the cricketers have insulted women with their insensitive comments.” The complaint has been filed under Section 504 of the Indian Penal Code.

Ram also disclosed that Meghwal has also clubbed an old allegation against Pandya for an alleged insensitive tweet on Dr BR Ambedkar. The said tweet though was not posted by the cricketer, but from a fake account.

Pandya, Rahul and Johar drew severe flak for their alleged insensitive comments on Koffee With Karan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had suspended the two cricketers till further investigation.  However, after a few weeks, the BCCI lifted their suspension, without any inquiry being completed. Pandya was drafted into the Indian cricket team as soon as the suspension was lifted.

Speaking to business channel ET Now, Johar had later apologized for the conversation on his show. "I'm not justifying the conversation that happened on the episode. I'm saying that perhaps things were said that may have crossed boundaries and I apologise because it was my platform where it happened," Johar had said.
