Nawazuddin to play passionate lover in brother Shamas Nawab's directorial debut Bole Chudiyan

Produced by Rajesh and Kiran Bhatia, the film is expected to be released in October this year.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, an actor known for playing dark, intense roles, sprang a surprise last year when he announced that he would be playing the lead in Motichoor Chaknachoor, a romantic comedy directed by Debamitra Hassan.

Now, Siddiqui has signed another romantic film, which is to be the directorial debut of his brother Shamas Nawab.

Siddiqui will play a passionate lover in the film titled Bole Chudiyan. The film's title is derived from the superhit song 'Bole Chudiyan' from Karan Johar's blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).

“It is an exciting phase for me as our cinema and the audience are evolving," Siddiqui told the Bombay Times entertainment supplement of The Times of India newspaper. "I look forward to roles and characters that challenge me and I can dig deep into. Bole Chudiyan is one such script. It is a passionate romantic drama.”

Shamas Nawab was naturally thrilled to be making his directorial debut, that too with his own brother. “I have been living and working on this romantic drama for long, and it's an honour for me to make my debut with Nawazbhai,” he said.

Bole Chudiyan is being produced by Rajesh and Kiran Bhatia of Woodpecker Films, who are also the producers of Motichoor Chaknachoor (2019).

Rajesh Bhatia revealed that Boel Chudiyan will go on the floors in May with the film requiring 45 days of shooting. The producers are targeting an October release for the film.

The leading lady is still to be finalized with the producers eyeing an A-lister, but they are also open to getting a newcomer on board. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra is on the hunt for the female lead.

Woodpecker Films has roped in Athiya Shetty opposite Siddiqui for Motichoor Chaknachoor.

Siddiqui's latest release is the bilingual Thackeray, a biopic of the late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. He is said to be shooting currently for the second season of the Netflix web-series Sacred Games.
