Wedding Cha Shinema teaser: Mukta Barve turns wedding film director

The casting of Barve, Bhau Kadam and Pravin Tarde as film crew members is unusual which makes it interesting.

Films with weddings at its centre have been aplenty in Marathi cinema. The recent Mumbai Pune Mumbai 2 (2015) and Shubh Lagna Savdhan (2018) immediately come to mind.

But debutant director Saleel Kulkarni’s Wedding Cha Shinema stands out because it is about a crew making a documentary on a colourful wedding.

Prakash (Shivraj Waichal) is about to marry a girl (Rucha Inamdar) he loves. A team of filmmakers comprising a director (Mukta Barve), cinematographer (Bhau Kadam) and a crew member (Pravin Tarde) are making a film on the entire journey of the wedding. The director is keen on making a sensible film, excluding the usual drama shown in wedding films.

The recently released teaser of the film generates interest in the subject. It indicates that the movie is a family affair with lots of humour. The funny moments are born out of the crew shooting the film.

The casting of Barve, Kadam and Tarde as the film crew members is unusual, but interesting. The lead pair of Waichal and Inamdar is also promising. The film also stars Shivaji Satam as the groom’s father.

Kulkarni has been a music composer for nearly 15 years. Wedding Cha Shinema will be his directorial debut.

Wedding Cha Shinema will be released on 12 April.
