As speculation on the sequel of Thackeray (2019) is rife, a source told us that he has had no talks about the sequel with the producers of the film.
“I haven’t even had a discussion about the sequel or its plans as of yet,” said the source.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui's act as Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray in the latter’s biopic was no surprise. However, the ‘To be continued...’ slide at the end of the film was a surprise to many. It served as an announcement that a sequel was in the offing.

The film's producer and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut later confirmed that a sequel was being planned. This led to speculation on social media regarding the status of the second part.
There were also reports that Shoojit Sircar is in talks to direct the second part. But when contacted earlier this month, he denied being associated with the project.
Going by the statement from the source, it seems like there is still some time before any work on the Thackeray sequel begins.
Thackeray is directed by Abhijit Panse and was released on 25 January.
