Sivakarthikeyan, whose last film Seemaraja (2018) failed to click at the box office, has pinned high hopes on his next two releases. Last week, teaser of his next release Mr. Local, in which he has teamed up with Nayanthara for the second time, was released and was received well, despite being criticized for endorsing a character that stalks Nayanthara.
With Mr. Local gearing up for release on 1 May, Sivakarthikeyan has now shifted his focus on his next project with R Ravi Kumar of Indru Netru Naalai (2015) fame. Tipped to be a science-fiction comedy about alien invasion, the film was launched in June last year and was on floors for a brief time.
Recently, rumours made the rounds that the project got shelved due to budget constraints. Since there no was official update from the makers, many believed the rumours to be true.
Last year, while promoting Sivakarthikeyan clarified that the project has not been shelved.
“This is a project with a lot of research and it needed more time than expected for pre-production. Ravi spent over a year on pre-production," Sivakarthikeyan had said last year while promoting Seemaraja (2018).
However, on Monday, when Sivakarthikeyan posted a picture from the sets of the yet-untitled film, many were relieved that the project wasn’t scrapped.
“Back to the sets of SK 14,” tweeted Sivakarthikeyan, along with a picture which also features director Ravi Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh.
Singh, being paired with Sivakarthikeyan for the first time, will be seen playing an astronomer in the film. AR Rahman has been roped in to compose music.
