Box office: Gully Boy earns Rs12.75 crore on second day

The film starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt has earned Rs32 crore at the domestic box office in two days.

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy has earned a decent amount on its second day in the theatres. The film starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt made about Rs12.75 crore yesterday, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The opening day collections, however, were much higher. The film made Rs19.25 crore (updated figures) on Thursday, 14 February, the day it was released.

Clearly, there has been a major fall in the numbers on day 2. The first day collections were high on account of it being Valentine's Day. And the drop on the second day could perhaps be attributed to it being a normal working day.

Gully Boy has so far earned a total of Rs32 crore in its first two days. The film is receiving positive reviews as well as positive word-of-mouth. This gives it a strong chance of growing on Saturday and Sunday.

Gully Boy review: Ranveer Singh explodes with a new sound in Zoya Akhtar's tale of hope

It is vital for the film to see a good jump on the weekend because of its high budget. According to trade sources, Gully Boy has been made at an estimated cost of Rs75 crore.

Ranveer Singh’s previous film Simmba made a grand Rs75.64 crore in its first weekend. Gully Boy, with an extended four-day opening weekend, has a good chance of surpassing the opening weekend collection of the Rohit Shetty directorial.
