After playing the best friend to Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Manto (2018), Tahir Raj Bhasin has now landed the role of the original 'Little Master', Sunil Gavaskar. The actor is set to play the role of Gavaskar in Kabir Khan's upcoming '83. The film will be led by Ranveer Singh playing the role of Kapil Dev.

The actor has been revealed as Gavaskar, the key member of the 1983 contingent that went on to win the World Cup for the first time.

While Gavaskar did not have a great tournament in 1983, he was one of the greatest batsman to come out of Indian cricket. The first batsman to cross 10,000 runs, Gavaskar was also titled 'The Little Master' by fans in the West Indies for his exploits.

The title would later be taken by one Sachin Tendulkar.

Khan's film has already cast an array of actors from Singh to Jiiva, Ammy Virk, Chirag Patil, and Pankaj Tripathi as members of the squad of the 1983 champions.

The film is likely to start shooting in the latter half of the year, with Singh likely to begin training with Dev.

'83 is set for release in April 2020.
