After releasing a few stills from the film, the makers of Kesari have finally released the first poster. Directed by Anurag Singh and starring Akshay Kumar, the film is produced under Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions and presented by Zee Studios.

The poster of the film has excitement written all over it. It’s an artistic image of Akshay wielding a sword, standing all charged and ready to fight the enemy. In the background, the Afghan army is seen with swords too. The artistic use of the shining sun adds drama to the poster, giving it a sepia tinge.

Kesari is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi in which 21 Sikh soldiers from the British Indian Army fought against 10,000 Afghan soldiers. The Sikh soldiers were led by Havildar Ishar Singh, who Akshay will portray in Kesari. The female lead will be played by Parineeti Chopra.

Director Singh is known for making a number of hit Punjabi films including Jatt & Juliet (2012), Jatt & Juliet 2 (2013) and Super Singh (2017).

The makers of Kesari faced a tough challenge last year when the film’s set in Wai was destroyed in a fire when a war sequence was being shot.

Kesari will be released on 21 March.
