After turning producer for the Marathi film, 15 August (2018), for Netflix, Madhuri Dixit is set to star in a family drama for the streaming platform. The web-series will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment and Netflix as part of their overall deal.
In a statement, the actress said of her online debut, "I am extremely excited to be making my OTT [Over-The-Top media service] acting debut. As an artiste, I am always looking out to do work that is creatively fulfilling and that reaches out to maximum number of people."
"The story is entertaining, gripping, nail-biting, and yet heartwarming and I can’t wait to start shooting for it," Dixit added.
The untitled show will be written by New York-based writer-director Sri Rao and will shed a light on the lives of people in the entertainment industry.
Rao wrote the story of Baar Baar Dekho (2016) and co-wrote the screenplay with Nitya Mehra and Anuvab Pal. The romantic drama was co-produced by Johar's Dharma Productions with Excel Entertainment.

Rao will also be the showrunner on the drama series. In 2017, Rao and Dixit worked on a pilot for the ABC network. The show was inspired by the actress's move to America when she gave up her life as a film star and became a wife and mother in the suburbs. Priyanka Chopra, along with the producers of her ABC show Quantico Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper were executive producers on the pilot that never got picked up.
