Queen trailer: Ramya Krishnan looks promising as Jayalalithaa

Based on the life of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, the show features Ramya Krishnan as the veteran star.

The trailer of upcoming web-series Queen – on the life of J Jayalalithaa – was released on Thursday, 5 December. Going by the visuals, the show promises to delve deep into three different stages in Jayalalithaa’s life.

Based on the life of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, the show features Ramya Krishnan as the veteran star. However, she plays a fictional character called Sakthi Seshadri modeled after Jayalalithaa.

The trailer categorizes Jayalalithaa’s life into three phases. We see Jayalalithaa as a young, bright girl in school and later on as a celebrated dancer as a teenager. We also get a glimpse of her relationship with MGR and her early years as a politician.

While Gautham Menon has directed five episodes, Prasath has directed five as well. Two episodes have been jointly directed by both of them.

The show will stream on MX Player from 14 December. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the makers have already commissioned the second season in which more focus will be upon Jayalalithaa’s political career.

On directing the show, Gautham said that it was “inspiring”, especially working with Ramya Krishnan.
