Ghost Stories teaser: Janhvi Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala face fears in first glimpse

The Netflix anthology, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, and Anurag Kashyap, will begin streaming on 1 January 2020.

Stark black and white backgrounds, eerie silence, ravenous birds, and ghostly dolls feature prominently alongside actresses Janhvi Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala as they face their fears in the first teaser of the Netflix anthology, Ghost Stories (2020).

The teaser begins with the sight straight out of Alfred Hitchcock's Birds (1963), with an ominous flock of birds gathering behind a young woman waiting at a stop. Soon, we jump into snippets of characters moving through a black and white monochrome montage of narrow hallways, dark rooms filled with ghastly personalities. The sight of Janhvi Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala shocked at the sight of something, or the crouched figure of a strange person feeding a doll is creepy enough to send chills down your spine.

The film will see the team of Lust Stories (2018), Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar, and Karan Johar, come together to direct four different films on the theme of horror. The series will also feature Avinash Tiwary, Gulshan Devaiah, Surekha Sikri, Sukant Goel, Kusha Kapila, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Varma.

The anthology will feature on Netflix from 1 January 2020.
