In an interview with the newspaper, Sangbad Pratidin, Dasgupta stated that he started contemplating working with Ganguly since he watched her performance, while doing the background score for Raj Chakraborty’s Parineeta (2019), in which Ganguly essayed an unusual role. In Bismillah, Ganguly will be seen opposite Sen, who plays the protagonist in the film.
"I wanted a good actress, who is glamorous as well, for the character of Fatima, opposite Sen. Ganguly easily fits into these two categories," commented the director. He further added that he "wanted to cast Ganguly opposite Sen, not for the sake presenting an unusual pair," but as "both of them are fit for the characters".
Ganguly, on the other hand, said, “I loved the script and want to congratulate both ID (Dagupta) and Padmanabha da (Dasgupta) for developing such a good script. I am grateful that ID thought of me for the role of Fatima. I think the character will add to the kind of works I am attempting these days.” T
The actress is eagerly looking forward to working with the host of talented actors in the film, especially Sen, who bagged the National award for his performance in Nagarkirtan (2019).
Bismillah (2020), revolves around the character of a boy, who is singularly focused in music and an instrument.
