Ranveer Singh transforms himself again with a quirky first look for Jayeshbhai Jordaar

Physicality means a lot for Ranveer Singh. Known for his vibrant personality, the actor's transformation for roles like Bajirao Mastani (2016), Padmaavat (2018) and Gully Boy (2019) have caught our eye. For Divyang Thakkar's upcoming film, Jayeshbhai Jordaar (2020), Singh has undergone yet another change to play a flamboyant Gujarati character.

The new look sees the actor in a slimmed out avatar, compared to his last look as the more hefty Kapil Dev in next year's '83 (2020). The look also captures the actor in a unique pose, with a group of veiled women behind him. With his flashy shirt, and a completely new makeover, the character looks like yet another interesting journey for Ranveer Singh. 

In a statement, Ranveer Singh said, "As Charlie Chaplin once said, ‘To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it!’ Jayeshbhai is an unlikely hero - an ordinary man, who ends up doing something extraordinary when he’s hurled into a threatening situation. Jayeshbhai is sensitive and compassionate. He believes in equal rights between men and women in a society that is deeply rooted in patriarchal ideals, practices and doctrines." 

The comedy will mark the directorial debut of writer-director Divyang Thakkar. Praising Thakkar, Singh said, "Divyang has poured his soul into this brilliant piece of writing that will nudge you to introspect whilst making you smile and laugh the entire time." 

The film will also mark Ranveer Singh's return to the comic genre after a slew of dramatic turns in the last couple of years. 

The film is backed by Yash Raj Films and producer Maneesh Sharma added, "Ranveer is fearless when it comes to inhabiting a role and has continued his risk taking behaviour, eschewing his looks for his character’s needs. For Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Divyang had the vision of a protagonist that went against the cloth - a hero that isn’t necessarily hyper-masculine or alpha. This faith on the director’s vision, and the self confidence of going against your 'image' is what makes Ranveer a filmmaker’s delight and one of India’s biggest stars - not just commercially but critically as well." 

Jayeshbhai Jordaar is set to release in 2020.
