Meanwhile, the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 3 recorded poor numbers on its second Monday yesterday.

The makers of Good Newwz (2019) have reason to take their film's title seriously. The comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani passed the first Monday test with flying colours, making Rs13 crore nett on the day, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The Raj Mehta film had made a decent opening of Rs17.50 crore nett and after recording a jump on the next two days ended the first weekend on a good note with Rs65 crore nett.

As we have said before, the numbers are more impressive than they appear because the subject of a mix-up in sperm at a fertility clinic is not considered family-friendly in a traditional country like India where even the word ‘sex’ is taboo for many.

According to our trade sources, Good Newwz was made on a budget of about Rs70 crore. With its grand collection at the domestic box office currently at Rs78 crore nett, the film is already in the safe zone for its producers and is likely to become the fourth hit of lead star Akshay Kumar this year.

Meanwhile, the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 3 (2019), after a poor performance in its second weekend at the box office, was expected to do badly on its second Monday and that is just what happened. The Prabhu Deva film made just Rs2 crore nett, taking its overall tally to Rs126.50 crore nett. The film's estimated budget is Rs130 crore.
