Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani-starrer Good Newwz (2019) had an excellent first weekend at the box office. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film recorded a collection of Rs65 crore nett in the first three days, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The is the second highest weekend number ever for a film starring Akshay Kumar, with the highest being Rs96.50 crore nett made by Mission Mangal (2019) earlier this year in its extended weekend [the film had released on Thursday, 15 August]. What makes Good Newwz’s achievement even bigger is that its subject of sperm switch-up at the fertility clinic isn’t family-friendly for all.
After opening with a decent number of Rs17.50 crore nett on Friday, the film saw a good jump on Saturday and Sunday when it made Rs21.50 crore nett and Rs26 crore nett respectively.
As per our trade sources, Good Newwz is made at an estimated budget of Rs60-70 crore. As the film has already made Rs67.39 crore nett, it seems to be all set to become another successful venture for Akshay.
Meanwhile, the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 3 (2019) had a low second weekend as the Prabhu Deva film could manage only Rs10.75 crore nett in this period. The film has so far made Rs124.50 crore nett at the Indian box office against an estimated budget of Rs130 crore.
